City Colleges of Chicago utilizes social media to positively promote and communicate news, events, and other information about CCC to our college community. City Colleges believes in thoughtful discussion and we expect any user of our pages to be respectful. The key to good utilization of social media is a simple understanding that your behavior, and responsibility as a member of the CCC community, extends to the online community as well. Some trends and effective practices toward building meaningful communities include:

Insightful Content
Simple repurposing of information from the CCC website or news releases undervalues the potential of these channels. Change the style to fit the social media channel you are using. For example, you can share student photos of an event (with permission and/or credit).  Or you can ask a question when you share a link to an article, inviting people to add their personal input and observations.

Follow CCC Branding
All colleges, departments, programs, and clubs that have a social media presence must follow the City Colleges of Chicago branding guidelines. In order to leverage the full strength of our college system’s name and reputation, every social media presence be consistent and complementary to our overall brand.

Moderate Conversation
Timely responses demonstrate your willingness to listen to your audience and to take feedback seriously. Engaging with your audience regularly, will encourage them to come back and further engage with other content on your page. It will also set the tone for the types of responses and conversations that will take place on the page.

Respect and Civility
Engage in thoughtful and respectful dialogue, correct misinformation, delete vulgar or irrelevant postings (that go against the platform’s community guidelines), and do not engage in heated arguments. Maintain authenticity and do not suppress dissenting voices unless they are vulgar, hateful, threatening or off-topic.

Remember your audience
Keep your material relevant and appropriate. Content posted on City Colleges of Chicago social channels must be CCC relevant. Keeping social media accessible means recognizing exclusion, learning from your followers, and presenting information in the clearest ways possible. Pages should not be used as an outlet to promote personal causes and should not be used for solicitation.

Remember City Colleges of Chicago
Your presence on any channel is a reflection of CCC and our college system.
